What the Fans Are Sayin'...
Stoops! (April/May 2013)
"Sooooo much fun...!! Performances, costumes, make-up, sound, direction... Everything was spot-on!" - Shannon
“GO!!! It's the FIERCEST show in town!” -Bill
“…the show was wonderfully cast and it was amazing (though not surprising!) to me that you were able to take an 18th century play and turn it into the dazzling collaboration of music, dance, costume pizzazz -- and a little bit of naughtiness! -- that you did. I loved that the cast was enjoying themselves as much as were the audience members. While obviously wonderfully directed, there was a sense of a live piece with the actors taking a show and making it theirs, almost along the line of improv… I believe it takes something special to get a group of people out of their chairs at the end of a production to dance!” - Vicky
“…What a great show…Funny, well acted, amazing costumes, dances...just fabulous..!” -Lisa
“Stoops! is a funky fresh take on a classic. This imaginative, colorful, high-energy production is engaging and accessible to a wide audience. Peyton's actors fully commit to their characters, dressed in whimsical costumes and make-up, and the original language flows beautifully. Laurie Fisher's creative, expressive choreography is the perfect compliment and rounds out a wonderful evening of excellent theater.” -Susan
“We absolutely LOVED the show. There was not a dull moment...We were enamored by the writing of the 18th century performed in such a modern, yet provocative way. The…modern interpretation of these words created a slapstick comedy still preserving the intellectual aspect of the original play. The use of gender bending allowed the audience to suspend disbelief and become more involved in the play….The set and minimalistic lighting allowed the audience to feel even more submerged in the story. The actors were all equally talented with a favorite being the mother character….I loved the dancing and choreography! We thank you for this delightful, fun, energetic, and original production!” -Rachel
“Stoops! is a madcap and riotous production that is thought-provoking at the same time! Divine Stage Works does a brilliant job of marrying the high-brow and the low-brow in this uniquely modern interpretation. The show is full of energy, visually captivating, and keeps the audience roaring with laughter from start to finish. Don't miss it!!!” -Jocelyn
